October 6th needs to hurry up and get here

If David Koon and Jim Harris aren't going to hook me up with a screener for The Departed, then I've got to see it in the theatre on Friday like everyone else.  I'm only half kidding, because even if I had a screener, I'd still want the big screen experience.  I hope I'm not over-hyping this movie, but I'm psyched about it.

Sadly, we have to sit through another poor weekend.  The Guardian and School for Scoundrels open nationally along with the animated Open Season.  Thankfully, Market Street Cinema has Half Nelson and The Science of Sleep.

Here's an article from New York Magazine about Nicholson and Scorsese.

Thanks to Philip Martin for a shout-out in his Friday MovieStyle column.  I haven't posted my Netflix queue in a while, so here it is.Frozen River; Miracle at St. Anna; Hellboy II: The Golden Army; Happy-Go-Lucky; and Cadillac Records - - all 2008 releases that I missed.
