What's in your queue?

Posted By on Tue, Dec 19, 2006 at 8:01 AM

I'm catching up on some movies I meant to see this year.  I've got "The Proposition," with Guy Pearce ("Memento," "LA Confidential"), "Heading South" starring Charlotte Rampling ("Swimming Pool") and "Water," which is sure to be up for a Best Foreign Film Oscar.

"Little Miss Sunshine" is also out today on DVD.  But Philip Martin asks in today's Democrat Gazette, "what's with all the hype?"  Check it out.

Thanks to Philip Martin for a shout-out in his Friday MovieStyle column.  I haven't posted my Netflix queue in a while, so here it is.Frozen River; Miracle at St. Anna; Hellboy II: The Golden Army; Happy-Go-Lucky; and Cadillac Records - - all 2008 releases that I missed.

One of the booths at this week's Ark-La-Tex Medical Cannabis Expo was hosted by the Arkansas Hemp Association, a trade group founded to promote and expand non-intoxicating industrial hemp as an agricultural crop in the state. AHA Vice President Jeremy Fisher said the first licenses to grow experimental plots of hemp in the state should be issued by the Arkansas State Plant Board next spring.
