2007's most anticipated film?

No, it doesn't star Sacha Baron Cohen, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston or Nicole Kidman.  I'm talking about "Hounddog" starring Dakota Fanning which is on the bill at the Sundance Film Festival.  Yep, the kid actor.  As I noted in an earlier post, she's generating a lot of attention and a good bit of controversy for a rape scene.  Slate.com discussing the matter as it's lead story today.  The New York Times and the LA Times have both covered it extensively.

As I also noted, Ms. Fanning had quite the wit when responding to the moronic far right trying to shut the film down.  Kudos to her. I'm pleased to know that a 12 year old can out flank Ted Haggard's crowd.

Thanks to Philip Martin for a shout-out in his Friday MovieStyle column.  I haven't posted my Netflix queue in a while, so here it is.Frozen River; Miracle at St. Anna; Hellboy II: The Golden Army; Happy-Go-Lucky; and Cadillac Records - - all 2008 releases that I missed.

It's the slowest for movies. "Watchmen," the much anticipated film adapted from, arguably, the greatest graphic novel of all time, has stirred the emotions of critics.

One of the booths at this week's Ark-La-Tex Medical Cannabis Expo was hosted by the Arkansas Hemp Association, a trade group founded to promote and expand non-intoxicating industrial hemp as an agricultural crop in the state. AHA Vice President Jeremy Fisher said the first licenses to grow experimental plots of hemp in the state should be issued by the Arkansas State Plant Board next spring.
