"The Lives of Others" is here.  After weeks of teasing on the Market Street Cinema website, the German film and Best Foreign Film Oscar-winner is in Little Rock.  Excuse me if I'm a bit surprised, albeit pleasantly.  A.O. Scott of the New York Times calls it "a suspenseful, ethically exacting drama, beautifully realized by the writer and director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck."  Anthony Lane of the New Yorker and Joe Morgenstern of The Wall Street Journal, Dana Stevens of Slate.com, Desson Thompson of the Washington Post and Philip Martin of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette all rave about the film.

Thanks to Philip Martin for a shout-out in his Friday MovieStyle column.  I haven't posted my Netflix queue in a while, so here it is.Frozen River; Miracle at St. Anna; Hellboy II: The Golden Army; Happy-Go-Lucky; and Cadillac Records - - all 2008 releases that I missed.
