I saw "Reign Over Me" and I enjoyed every moment of it.  I was mesmerized by the wonderfully heartbreaking performance of Adam Sandler, who is far better here than he was in "Punch Drunk Love" which was as angry as many of Sandler's sillier characters.  He plays a man so overwhelmed by grief that he continuously re-models his kitchen, plays video games and hides himself in the music of The Who and Springsteen, all-the-while speeding around the empty streets of Manhattan on a scooter.  Don Cheadle also stars in another role perfectly suited for him.  There's a distracting subplot involving an emotionally disturbed dental patient, but every other aspect of the film works.  It is absolutely worth seeing.

Thanks to Philip Martin for a shout-out in his Friday MovieStyle column.  I haven't posted my Netflix queue in a while, so here it is.Frozen River; Miracle at St. Anna; Hellboy II: The Golden Army; Happy-Go-Lucky; and Cadillac Records - - all 2008 releases that I missed.

It's the slowest for movies. "Watchmen," the much anticipated film adapted from, arguably, the greatest graphic novel of all time, has stirred the emotions of critics.
