I saw "Grindhouse" yesterday.  What a fantastic moviegoing experience.  If you take it for what it's meant to be, a traditional double feature wrought with terrible previews, missing reels, burned reels and bad camera work, then Mr. Rodriguez and Mr. Tarantino have accomplished their goal.  "Planet Terror," the first film by Mr. Rodriguez is violence, gore and flesh melting zombies.  What's not to like?  "Death Proof," Mr. Tarantino's film is by far the superior of the two.  With sharp dialogue, good music, a car chase that lasts for days (Joe Morgenstern of The Wall Street Journal calls it "the most thrilling car chase every committed to film") and chicks that kick ass, taken on it's own it's a film worth seeing. (I applauded at the end)  Together, with some hilarious previews by Eli Roth and others, "Grindhouse"  presents a throwback to certain film experiences of a time past.  For three hours you'll forget that you're in a swanky 18-screen theatre with five dollar cokes or that it cost you seven dollars to get in.  And I venture to guess that was part of the point.

It's the slowest for movies. "Watchmen," the much anticipated film adapted from, arguably, the greatest graphic novel of all time, has stirred the emotions of critics.
