Daily Film Dose takes a look at the sophomore slump experienced by several acclaimed directors.  Alan Bacchus, who wrote the peice, is comprehensive in his assessment, although as the comments point out, he did leave off some notable second-effort misses including Bryan Singer ("The Usual Suspects" then "Apt Pupil").  I thought Sofia Coppola ("Lost in Translation" then "Marie Antionette") might make the list, although I liked both films.
