I've been thinking about the films scheduled to be released in 2007 and trying to determine which of those were curiously left out of the Cannes Film Festival line-up.  The first film that came to mind was "I'm Not There" the Todd Haynes film about Bob Dylan (The film isn't ready according to numerous reports).

But of course the film that most obviuosly stands out thanks to Variety is Woody Allen's latest film "Cassandra's Dream" which is complete.  Allison James reports that Cannes offered Allen the closing night slot and he balked; something about it being a backhanded compliment.  Huh?  Jeff Wells of Hollywood-Elsewhere points out that Allen's "Match Point" was given a middle-of-festival screening two years ago.
