Picked up a hard copy of the Oxford American Southern Movie Issue earlier today.  I haven't been able to spend a lot of time with it, but there is some really good stuff.  I linked a week or so ago to some great articles available online.  In the print edition they have a great interview with Charles Burnett, the director of "Killer of Sheep."  Hal Crowther's essay on Robert Altman is also special.  Guest Editor Derek Jenkins has done a fine job.  And you get the DVD with your purchase.  You can pick up a copy at any bookstore.

Thanks to Philip Martin for a shout-out in his Friday MovieStyle column.  I haven't posted my Netflix queue in a while, so here it is.Frozen River; Miracle at St. Anna; Hellboy II: The Golden Army; Happy-Go-Lucky; and Cadillac Records - - all 2008 releases that I missed.
