I finally caught "Little Children" on DVD this week.  It's a fine film, although I'll admit that there was aspects of it that bugged me.  But I'll also admit that my expectations were probably unreasonably high.  It certainly would have made my Top 10, which, come to think of it, is worth another look now that I've seen everything I intended to see in 2006.

So, five months later, here's my FINAL Top 10 of 2006:

1.  "The Departed"

2.  "The Lives of Others"

3.  "Half Nelson"

4.  "Letters from Iwo Jima"

5.  "Pan's Labyrinth"

6.  "Children of Men"

7.  "Volver"

8.  "Little Children"

9.  "The Queen"

10.  "Miami Vice"

Thanks to Philip Martin for a shout-out in his Friday MovieStyle column.  I haven't posted my Netflix queue in a while, so here it is.Frozen River; Miracle at St. Anna; Hellboy II: The Golden Army; Happy-Go-Lucky; and Cadillac Records - - all 2008 releases that I missed.

It's the slowest for movies. "Watchmen," the much anticipated film adapted from, arguably, the greatest graphic novel of all time, has stirred the emotions of critics.
