Philip Martin writes about the Little Rock Film Festival in his Dem-Gaz column today.  The festival has compiled one hell of a line-up and for only $20 this is a no-brainer.  You can see "Knocked Up," "Killer of Sheep," "Old Joy," among many others.  I was supposed to moderate a discussion with "The Situation" director Philip Haas, but I'm having unexpected back surgery today and I won't be able to do it.

I'm also pleased that Movies in the Park, which will host the awards ceremony for the festival as well as special screening of "Casablanca" on Sunday night, May 20th is generating a lot of interest from the LRFF schedule site.  By my count, it's in the Top 10 of films/events viewed by the public.  While you don't need a festival pass to attend the "Casablanca" screening, you should still buy one.

Thanks to Philip Martin for a shout-out in his Friday MovieStyle column.  I haven't posted my Netflix queue in a while, so here it is.Frozen River; Miracle at St. Anna; Hellboy II: The Golden Army; Happy-Go-Lucky; and Cadillac Records - - all 2008 releases that I missed.

It's the slowest for movies. "Watchmen," the much anticipated film adapted from, arguably, the greatest graphic novel of all time, has stirred the emotions of critics.
