"28 Weeks Later", which opens nationwide today, received some strong reviews.  A.O. Scott of The New York Times writes, "It is brutal and almost exhaustingly terrifying, as any respectable zombie movie should be. It is also bracingly smart, both in its ideas and in its techniques."  Desson Thompson of The Washington Post describes the film as "as viscerally compelling as smash-mouth filmmaking gets." David Edelstein of New York Magazine calls it an "incendiary follow-up."

Joe Morgenstern of The Wall Street Journal opines, "There's no better fun for movie lovers than a small, unheralded film that turns out to be terrific -- unless it's a small, unheralded sequel that trumps the original. Such is the case with "28 Weeks Later.""  The film has an 88% Cream of the Crop rating on Rottemtomatoes.com.
