Box Office Mojo reports that "Transformers," the latest (I don't know what you call it) from Michael Bay brought it more that $8 million at the box office on Monday night.  Not bad considering that the film didn't screen before 8:00 pm.

I still haven't seen the film, but I plan to.  I heard from a reliable friend with above average film taste that "Transformers," while the most spectacular visual effects film he's ever seen (and he's seen them all), the script blows.  He recited lines to me that made me cringe.  See, this is where Michael Bay screws up.  He convinces producers and studios that visual effects make the movie, and that people will overlook crap writing and cheeseball music (see "Pearl Harbor," "Armageddon," "Bad Boys I" and "Bad Boys II").

I'm going the film its fair shake tomorrow, but I already know that with Michael Bay's name attached, there's a great chance I'll wish I was watching a rat cook pasta.

It's the slowest for movies. "Watchmen," the much anticipated film adapted from, arguably, the greatest graphic novel of all time, has stirred the emotions of critics.
