Don Cheadle's new film "Talk to Me" is getting all kinds of attention from critics.  I've been a Chadle fan for as long as I can remember - maybe it was from his days as Buck Swope on "Boogie Nights."  Yes, I'm sure it was.  In his latest film Cheadle plays Petey Greene, a DC radio jockey whose shock-jock antics galvanized much of America in the 1960's.  Michael Rechtshaffen of Hollywood Reporter writes, "Again demonstrating why he's one of the most versatile actors around, Don Cheadle gives another prize-worthy performance as Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene Jr."

Nathan Lee of The Village Voice agrees, "As in the overrated Hotel Rwanda, Cheadle is a live wire in dead air, shimmering with vitality—and silk paisley blouses—against his oppressively formulaic context."   Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly notes, "Cheadle hasn't really taken a role and walked on the wild side — until "Talk to Me.""  Pete Hammond of Maxim opines, "Cheadle, who has never been this uninhibited on-screen before, soars into the highest rank of film actors as Greene. He is flat-out great, a towering performance."

A.O. Scott of The New York Times has a video review in a addition to his print review.  It's worth a look if you want to catch of few scenes of the cast which includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Martin Sheen and Taraji P. Henson who dazzled in "Hustle and Flow" a few years back.  Director Kasi Lemmons was on The Treatment with Elvis Mitchell this week.

It's the slowest for movies. "Watchmen," the much anticipated film adapted from, arguably, the greatest graphic novel of all time, has stirred the emotions of critics.

  • Industrial hemp pilot program coming soon to Arkansas

One of the booths at this week's Ark-La-Tex Medical Cannabis Expo was hosted by the Arkansas Hemp Association, a trade group founded to promote and expand non-intoxicating industrial hemp as an agricultural crop in the state. AHA Vice President Jeremy Fisher said the first licenses to grow experimental plots of hemp in the state should be issued by the Arkansas State Plant Board next spring.
