I've been suggesting to my Batman - fanatical friends that Heath Ledger's performance next year as The Joker in Chris Nolan's second Batman film "The Dark Knight" could be Oscar-worthy.  If you recall, Jack Nicholson got some serious awards consideration (Golden Globe and BAFTA nom) for his comedic protrayal of The Joker in Tim Burton's "Batman." I have a feeling that Ledger's performance will be very different - more sublime, sinister and sleek.  Granted, I'm a fan of Ledger's work (his role in "Candy" is one of the more underrated), and I think he fits this part like a glove.  But don't take my word for it.  Variety's Oscar man Kris Tapley suggested the same thing on this Red Carpet District blog a few days ago.
