The next two weeks provide a lot of Oscar catch up for folks who missed the theatrical run of of this year's Oscar nominees.  On Tuesday, "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," (Best Cinematography) and "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" (this movie isn't very good, but Blanchett is nominated) are released along with "Across the Universe," (Best Costume Design).  "The Brave One" and the excellent and underappreciated "The Jane Austen Book Club"  also hit the shelves (neither received an Oscar nom).

A week from Tuesday, "Gone Baby Gone," starring Best Actress nominee Amy Ryan will be avilable in your Netflix queue.

On February 19th, "Michael Clayton" will be on disc along with "In the Valley of Elah" starring Best Actor nominee Tommy Lee Jones and "American Gangster" starring Best Supporting Actress nominee Ruby Dee.

You can still catch "No Country for Old Men," "There Will Be Blood," "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," "Juno," "The Savages," "The Kite Runner," "Michael Clayton" and "Atonement" in Little Rock theaters.

"Away from Her" (Best Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay), "Ratatouille" (Best Animated Film, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing), "La Vie en Rose" (Best Actress, Best Make Up, Best Costume Design), "The Bourne Ultimatum" (Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing), "Eastern Promises"  (Best Actor),  "Surf's Up" (Best Animated Film), "No End in Sight" (Best Documentary), "Sicko" (Best Documentary), "Operating Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience" (Best Documentary), "3:10 to Yuma" (Best Original Score, Best Sound Mixing), "Once" (Best Original Song),  "Transformers" (Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing), "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" (Best Makeup, Best Visual Effects) are all available now on DVD.

Holy shit:  "Norbit" received an Oscar nomination for Best Makeup.  Really?  Seriously?  The Academy should be ashamed.  It's also on DVD.

It's the slowest for movies. "Watchmen," the much anticipated film adapted from, arguably, the greatest graphic novel of all time, has stirred the emotions of critics.
