Re: “Walton public school attack continues for Massachusetts charters and Arkansas vouchers

As a dyslexia advocate I was very excited about Reform Alliance, but after checking it out I discovered that there are few schools that do dyslexia intervention. So once again, not really much help for 20% of the public school population. Why don't the public schools in Arkansas just fix their literacy program? This would solve the majority of the problems. Not just in schools, but in society as well. I'd stand with LRSD all day long if they would fix literacy!

Re: “Another departure from Heritage Department; Stacy Hurst fires Delta Cultural Center leader

This is a shame. The delta cultural center is an asset of Helena. It's no secret that the economy in Helena has taken a turn for the worst. The beautiful town relies on tourism and the delta cultural center is the first place many go to when going to Helena. Since there is such a surplus in the state budget why would anyone want to cut back anything that has a positive impact in a town that relies so heavily on this center for their tourism industry. This is an outrage and should be reversed!

Re: “Federal complaint challenges charter schools on civil rights ground

They refuse to teach kids to read! 487,000 kids in our school. 331,160 can't read on grade level. If you try to get the school to teach them to read you will find that they won't. So what choice do parents have if they want their children to learn?
