‘PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST': Norton Fine Arts will feature the figurative paintings of Stephen Cefalo at this week's 2nd Friday Art Night event, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 12. Cefalo will give a demonstration from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. June 13 at the gallery at 1206 Main St. Other 2nd Friday Art Night shows include sculpture by Elena Petroukhina at The Arts Scene, 110 N. State St.; furniture by Arkansas craftsmen at the Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 E. Third; and paintings, ceramics, photos, fiber art and woodwork by Arkansas artists at the Arkansas Studies Institute's retail gallery, 401 President Clinton Ave. Trolley transportation will be provided. Also open downtown Friday night: River Market Artspace (301 Clinton) and the gallery at Christ Church (509 Scott St.).

  • Apartment project announced for SoMa

    The Lasiter Group announced today that it will build a 35-unit apartment complex in the 1300 block of Scott Street called the Villa View. The development, on the west side of Scott, will face the historic Villa Marre. The project should be complete by the end of 2018.
