Re: “Short-sighted Republicans stop planning grant for LR-Hot Springs trail

"I believe that we have much greater needs in our country from an infrastructure perspective, and this is one of many that our federal government would be better served putting our transportation dollars towards those needs those bridges, those airports, those roads that need rehabilitation." - Justice of the Peace Phil Stowers (R-Maumelle)

The Republican members of the Pulaski County Quorum Court understand that they don't just get to direct the federal government to spend the $2.5 million it allocated for this project elsewhere on bridges, airports, and roads, right?

Re: “High Waters

If the prices on their online menu can be trusted, I paid $43 for an appetizer of a few good-sized scallops in Newport, Rhode Island this weekend. Nice spots with excellent food have to pay the bills if they want to stay that way. The place I visited has been open for 44 years. I'll be heading back again soon.

Re: “Caution: Mental health services on the chopping block

Every time there's a mass shooting, Republicans say, "Common sense gun laws won't help anything. What we really need is better access to mental health care."

Always remember: They don't mean a bit of it.

Re: “Family Council raises alarm about gambling, wine

Christ's first miracle was to salvage a quickly tanking party by changing some water into wine. Why would the Family Council outlaw the sale of this Galilean wine at the Piggy Wiggly?

Re: “AVC wants Tech Park space, and isn't alone

"The board is negotiating with Stephens Inc. on the purchase of several properties, including what is called the Annex in the 500 block of Main St."

The Annex is in the 400 block. Stephens owns no property on the 500 block.

Re: “Quiz time: Could you cut it at P.F. Chang's in Rogers?

My favorite thing about Gawker? Besides the mordancy, Gawker--and all of the Gawker Media sites--consistently have some of the best commenters anywhere on the Web. In a time when quality sites are increasingly doing away with the ability of users to comment (and rightly so: http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/arch…), Gawker's policies/algorithms/heuristics make for a comment section consistently worth the read.

Re: “Meet Wes Clark's 30-year-old girlfriend

This kind of grocery-store-checkout-magazine fodder is not what I just signed-up to pay $10 a month for.
