Re: “Thursday: The open line and news roundup

I'm glad you enjoyed November Road, NVR. I got hold of Lou Berney's earlier book, "The Long and Faraway Gone," and read it also. Berney's writing improved somewhat in November Road, but Long and Faraway Gone is another good read that was worth the effort. It's also kinda/sorta crime novel/mystery in the same way NR is.

Re: “Wednesday: Headlines and the open line

This story about the prosecution of a Navy Seal made me think of Nancy Boy.
Google Edward Gallagher if you're blocked from reading nytimes.

Re: “Criticism continues of Arkansas Tech scholarship honoring professor seen as Holocaust denier

Would it make any difference if the name of the scholarship was changed, but the money still came from the same place? I'm with Doigotta on this. Colleges are supposed to represent freedom of speech. This guy sounds like he's a creepazoid, and the powers that be seem to have recognized that, but he's still there. What are the requirements for getting the scholarship, and how has it been awarded in the past? There's certainly opportunity to thwart the theoretical purpose presumed to be intended.........

Re: “Senator Hendren, citing new state law, seeks dismissal of federal lawsuit over his firm's use of unpaid labor

if I broke the law in November of last year and got caught speeding 70 mph in 55 mph zone and the speed limit was changed in March of this year to 70 mph I don't get to have my ticket dismissed.

Hendren broke the law. Requesting dismissal in the way he requesting it is basically an admission. Why do legislators think they get to be held to a lesser standard than the rest of us?

Re: “Today's video and the open line

lol Olphart, that would be the Spousal Unit. It sucks when he's elsewhere - usually his workplace - and the phone rings in the other room.
