Re: “A case against horse racing and an open line

I ride and have since I was a child. I'm still the size of a jockey. These horses die because they are started too early and run too hard as babies. A hunter jumper isn't started training until 5 because his legs are still growing and strengthening. Risk of injury of death prior to then is ridiculously high. If you watch equestrian events during the Olympics you'll note most of thos horses are 8 years or older. Yes they still have injuries or death but it isn't because they ran babies to death. Horse racing needs to take a step back and reassess it's priorities. Would it really be too costly to feed these beautiful animals another couple of years and then begin training them? I love horses but will never go to the races again unless and until reforms are instituted.
