Re: “Former Governor's School leader objects to change in nature, location of program

Sigh...no need to sink to name calling. Thank you, Bruce, for putting forth what AGS means and needs to remain. As an alum of 1985, the experience as designed was invaluable. It was a chance to finally be open to new ideas, to think freely, not to merely be indoctrinated in anything. Believe me, very few students who end up there are easily indoctrinated. Having no access to college students was a necessity. We needed to experience building a community of ourselves not being absorbed or a satalite to an existing community. We learned to get along and communicate. We all left changed for the better.

As a mother of an AGS alum of 2014, I was thrilled to hear that the process and procedures were the same. Some of the content changed as expected but many topics and contents were the same. Talking to my child about those things was like talking about an old friend one hasnt seen in years. She left changed for the better. And is a better citizen from the experience.

AGS is unique as it is structured. It works *this* way. It needs to remain structured as it is. Make something new and different at Tech. That would be cool. Options are cool.
