Make plans. The line-up for the second annual Lucero Family Picnic has been announced. Former Drive-By Trucker Jason Isbell, Justin Townes Earle, Cory Branan, the Good Fear and Dan Montgomery will join Lucero on the banks of the White River in Riverside Park in Batesville on Saturday, Sept. 13. Tickets, on sale via luceromusic.com, are $15 in advance and $20 the day of show. There's also a limited supply of VIP artist's tent passes, for $40.

Make more immediate plans: Central Arkansas's favorite female rapper (and in some fairly broad circles, its favorite without qualification) plays her first downtown show in several years next Friday, Aug. 8. That's right, XXzotic is back, though she's now going by Nina James. She's headlining a gig at Downtown Music that also features local heavyweights Suga City and 607. Tickets are $10 and the show's open to all ages. Look for a Q&A with XXzotic coming soon to Rock Candy.

An Andy Warhol exhibit is coming to the Arts Center on Oct. 17. It'll feature 63 silkscreens and various drawings and objects. Iconic works billed in the promo copy: 1964 Brillo Boxes, a triple portrait of Marilyn Monroe and the Silver Clouds room.

The Boondogs are wrapping up recording of their fifth LP. Several weeks back, Austin producer Andre Moran, who was Jerry Harrison's assistant when the Boondogs were recording in San Francisco during the GarageBand days, came over to Lucky Dog Studios, where Boondogs Jason Weinheimer and Charles Wyrick work during the day, to record most of the album. Weinheimer, who shares songwriting and lead vocal duty with his wife, Indy Grotto, says that the album is shaping up as a “big pop rave-up.” He plans to master the record in New York or L.A. sometime in early September and have the album out later in the fall.
