A cheap — puff, puff — thrill

BIG DAM CHEAP DATE: Take your sweetie on a riverside stroll.
  • BIG DAM CHEAP DATE: Take your sweetie on a riverside stroll.

A clear winner emerged among many suggestions — good and bad — for cheap dates.

And that winner was — catch your breath, romantics — a hike up Pinnacle Mountain. The view at the top is inspiring. But hand-holding is only for those who like a clammy grip. Yes, it’s free, though cold drinks are a good accessory.

Other suggestions:

• Second Friday Art Night. Ride the trolley. Drop in on art exhibits around downtown. You might even cadge a drink of wine or two.

• Big Dam Bridge. It’s another outing for the athletically inclined, but the bike/hike bridge over Murray Dam is one of the city’s hot new views and a vision itself in its night light finery.

• Little Rock Zoo. Regular adult admission is $8, but it’s a small price for up-close encounters with the animal kingdom.

Others voted for a night at the movies, an evening at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, a stroll around the River Market, watching the planes land at the Little Rock National Airport and Gator Park.
