Re: “Memphis Council votes removal of Confederate general Forrest's remains from city park

Just for the record I am originally born and raised in Michigan. Lived there for 27 years so I have a different perspective than most southerners. I then moved south. One thing I can say is I am old enough to remember racial divisions where I great up in the Detroit area. We had horrible riots there in 1967. And I did hear occasional racial slurs spoken by some white people tho that was a minority. I never liked it then and don't now. The thing I can say since moving further south is that they are good people. I love southern culture and the people and its history. I find it offensive and sad to see the way some Hollywood movie makers and extremist politicians and community agitators have vilified the South and its history. Sure bad things happened and slavery was wrong. I don't think very many would disagree here in the South. But this attempt at going after historical flags and monuments and graves is really disturbing. There is a powerful group of people who have an agenda that does not like America. In fact I think they hate what this great country of ours stands for. Today they are going after the Confederate Battle Flag and General Forrest's grave. If it stopped there I guess I could live with that. But I don't believe they will. Next they will go after a very honorable and good man like Robert E Lee. Then maybe Washington and Jefferson because they owned slaves. Pretty soon they will be wanting to say the flag of the USA is racist because it was created by a country that tolerated slavery. Is this possible? I say it is and we better just all be careful to where this political correctness that have taken over this country is taking us. I have a feeling that one day we will wake up and we will no longer have a free country and with a proud history. Instead we will wake up in a tyrannical state that has erased our history and replaced it with the worship and honoring of trees and animals and some other nonsense. God help us to wake up!!!
