Re: “Tuesday night line

Governor Beebe has kept a promise to mostly do away with the grocery tax, which really had little affect on the poor, but he had done so at the expense of many important programs. He was behind a rewrite of many of the criminal laws to reduce prison population, but all this has accomplished is the shifting of cost of crime from the state to the counties. Today, the District courts hand out jail sentences regularly where if the crime is elevated to a felony the sentence involves no jail time but probation. Something is wrong when you go to jail for a misdemeanor but do not for a felony. Just some rambling thoughts about Beebe's dismantling of the criminal justice system.

Re: “State trooper shoots man after Crawford County traffic stop

What I object to is people criticizing without having the facts. Certainly everyone has a right to speak no matter how uninformed they are, but in speaking without the facts the speaker reveals his/her natural bias.

Re: “State trooper shoots man after Crawford County traffic stop

I love this site. You folks are so ready to assume based on a book and a movie that the WM3 are innocent but have a police officer shoot someone and they are automatically guilty of an unjustified murder. Step back, everyone is entitled to a presumption of innocence. No matter how much you think you know, unless you are there and see the witnesses testify and you can judge their credibility you will not even by able to make an educated guess about their moral responsibility. Every time a police officer stops a car he/she does not know whether or not the driver is a drug crazed, gun toting lunatic or a law abiding citizen. We have had police murdered in every part of this state after they have made a traffic stop. Let the evidence develop.

Re: “Jeff Long's firing of Petrino brings $1.25 million donation

"PPS — WHEN YOU HAVE LEMONS . . . . There are worse things than being known for principled decisions. But some skill players who can run the 40 in 4.8 and bench press about 400 pounds don't hurt either."

I hate to tell you this Max, but this statement reflects that you are not a fan of college football. If a skill player cannot do better than a 4.8 in the 40 he cannot play for Arkansas Tech much less the Razorbacks. He might have trouble making his intramural team. But that being said your point is well taken. You just need to change the 4.8 to a 4.4.

Re: “Day is done

No offense to those filling in for you but you were sorely missed. Welcome back! I can only imagine how enjoyable a trip it must have been.

Re: “Herb Rule resigns from Rose firm

I hope he gets a young and dedicated campaign manager. You may not always agree with Herb Rule but you can count on him giving an honest statesman like opinion.
