One of the kindest people I have known.I always wished he had never left the legislature. The best.

Re: “Walter Nunn, political figure and publisher, dies at 75

Wonderful guy. We hosted dinners for some of the hundreds of international visitors he used to bring to Little Rock on State Department tours. Sometimes we would get him to stay for supper with the visitors and he was delightful company. Loved history, loved Arkansas and contributed much to this community.

Re: “Bob Sells dies at 84

When I started the Arkansas Times, Bob Sells was one of the few big business guys that gave me a hearing. This was 1974. In the first or second issue I wrote a 2,000 or 4,000 word sleeper about deregulation of phone rates. The next day I was walking down 2nd Street and Bob drove by and slowed, yelling "That was a sorry piece you wrote!", and drove on. The next day I called on him and we spent an hour on the details he felt I had missed. Through all that he became a friend and was a huge support and sometimes critic of this publication. I think his kids would agree, as he became older, as have I, he became more and more liberal. At any rate, he was for sure an independent soul, and I am in his debt and one of his admirers. One of the finest men I have ever known.

Re: “Little Rock to New Orleans in 94 Minutes

Guys--it is an ad. Max insists on living indoors, thus the ad. Actually I wrote the copy for the ad after taking their flight from LR to NOLA. I've been making that eight hour drive annually for years and it was amazing to be in New Orleans in a little less than an hour and a half. Its a small plane so there is no line. It feels almost like flying a private jet except for TSA. They are offering New Orleans and also Destin (2 hours). The Destin route is just for the holidays and then again when beach season hits. I really recommend it. There is a code for 10% off and if you will use it, Max will be forever grateful.

Re: “Hog Roast this afternoon in North Little Rock

The hogs came from Farm Girl Foods, a Perryville farm owned by Katie Short. They are pastured, non confined, heritage breed hogs raised right. No factory hogs here.
