Re: “Sanford Tollette speaks out against planned development

I rarely-if ever- post in a public forum and generally avoid cross-posting but I wanted to share a post I made today in posting a link to the video on my FB page.

Some of you know about the fight with a developer the residents of West Pulaski and I have been involved in that involves developing a section of land along Kanis Road immediately to the west of Chenal Downs extending to Walnut Grove Rd. Beyond the issue of leveling the top portion of the ridge to produce enough area to put 266 homes, is the homes will share a private sewage treatment plant that will discharge into Fletcher Creek. 1/4 mile down the creek from the discharge point is Camp Okatoma which has a wonderful swimming hole,. Fletcher Creek feeds the Little Maumelle, and about a mile or so downstream is Camp Pfeifer where many water activities take place, several miles further the Little Maumelle flows through Pinnacle State Park -again where many water activities take place- and eventually into the Arkansas River. The developer has partnered with State Rep Andy Davis who owns the company that will install the treatment system. ADEQ is reviewing the proposal and without public outcry will likely issue a permit at which point the developer will begin The Trails development. I have a very personal investment in not seeing this development and treatment plant move forward as a resident in close proximity. But this has a much wider impact than my immediate area. I encourage you to view the video and draw your own conclusions.
