Re: “DJ Tommy Smith arrested in Little Rock

Alcoholism is the only illness, of which I am aware, that requires the patient to self-diagnosis; it is also a malady which tells its victim "You don't got it"; the continual juxtapositioning of those two concepts leads "in time to pitiful and incomprehensible demoralization."

Ironically, once the alcoholic arrives at this place (reaches this true 'bottom' -- "crushed by a self-imposed crisis [he] could not postpone or evade") then, and only then, is he positioned to begin the "self-searching, the leveling of our pride, the confession of shortcomings which the process requires for its successful consummation."

Maybe this incident will prove to be the bitter-sweet catalyst to enable Tommy Smith's recovery process to begin in earnest.

God speed

"Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol or morphine or idealism." Carl Gustav Jung

Addiction: We can't help moving towards something. It dominates our other actions. We are motivated by overpowering desire. Phobia: We have an unnatural aversion to something. We are motivated by overwhelming fear. Between these 2 extremes lie the motivational currents that shape the flow of our lives. Phillip Zimbardo
