Re: “A near-death experience is a reminder: Bicyclists have rights, too

I trust everyone who is complaining about the law not being strictly enforced, and that Officers should not be able to use their discression isn't guilty of having ever committed the slightest traffic violation?

How many here have been given a written or verbal warning instead of a citation? That courtesy was because of an Officer using their own discression while enforcing the law. If you had accidentally struck a pedestrian or cyclist would you need a citation to really learn your lesson? Would it take that hit in the pocket book to really drive your mistake home?

The next time you don't come to a 100% true, complete stop at a stop sign, you deserve a ticket. Also when you go 1 mph over the limit, try to beat the yellow light only for it to turn red in the intersection, have a brake or tail light out, forget to put your new proof of insurance in your glovebox, and fail to signal a turn or lane change.

Don't forget that you can't have it both ways.
