Re: “Update: Children's behavioral health provider Ascent to close all Arkansas facilities

They are for profit, and they are losing money because of the recent cuts to Medicaid for behavioral health services.

Re: “Restructuring DHS business functions just the beginning, director says

I'm as suspect as the next person, but as someone who has worked for and alongside DHS as a social worker, it needs 12 kinds of overhauls. It's not just a funding issue but a lack of accountability in every department, at least that I've encountered. I will reserve judgement until I see the plan, and this is coming from someone that works in community mental health.

Re: “Layoffs reported at Ted Suhl's healthcare operations

I work there, and I second doppleganger123's sentiment. Completely unethical and unprofessional, and their reputation will follow them.

Re: “Musing over Miss Arkansas

Ugh...this was a great article, but of course all the pageant enthusiasts will come along, unable to deal with even an ounce of criticism for an activity that is about as relevant these days as the aforementioned "housewives of xxx". Judging a bunch of girls by how well they can stand, walk and paint themselves with make up and orange spray tan teaches very little about real life. Then again, most of these girls are beautiful enough to have at least 10 years before their looks won't get them most anything they want (except for the elusive trophy, of course). How about competition that stirs young peoples' brains, encourages real social or policy change and actually looks at health and fitness, instead of using it as an excuse to put young girls on display in skimpy bathing suits. Cheree, I really enjoyed your honest article with a hefty dose of snark. These pageant defenders could use a bit of a boost in their sense of humor IMO.
