Re: “Change in leadership at Maumelle High School

Regarding the teacher who commented on this blog above. Are teachers allowed to comment freely on public blogs re: what is taking place on their job? If so, I wish some of those teachers and students as well would tell us what is actually taking place up there.
I know my grandchildren have NOT been happy. If things do not improve, I will be paying for private school tuition for my grandchildren for next school year.

Re: “Change in leadership at Maumelle High School

It is interesting that Principal Guthrie is making speeches to the school district members about her integrity. One of the parents in the district simply couldn't take the games she played any more and filed an ethics complaint against her and her pet English teacher, Mrs. Davis, this summer over unethical things taking place at the school with Mrs. Guthrie's full approval. It seems that Mrs. Davis was teaching an AP English class for 2 years for which she was not qualified under Mrs. Guthrie's leadership. Mrs. Davis was acting as Mrs. Guthrie's mouth piece in the building and district so she was protected by the administration even though what Mrs. Davis was doing did not meet state rules/regs. Principal Guthrie attempted to cover up what had taken place and there is written documentation to show that she did so that has been given to the state ethics board. Rumor has it that Mrs. Guthrie will be giving account for her behavior publicly before the boards that deal with such ethics violations within the next several weeks. How can PCSSD have such incompetence at the head of a school. Besides the stories circulating about Principal Guthrie making well known comments like saying that "she didn't want those black bastards in her school" in reference to black students at Maumelle High, she absolutely refused to work with her staff--she refused to see that they were paid for work they did and put all staff members' teachers' licenses at risk by refusing to offer required professional development to her staff. Last spring, word on the street had it that Principal Guthrie had 25 grievances filed against her by staff members for things as basic as refusing to process purchase orders for things like microscopes for the students.

There is some type of "Becky Guthrie" cult of personality going on currently at the school, currently. It seems that all those who support "Becky Guthrie" on the staff are wearing an orange ribbon to let everyone know that they are still pouting that their incompetent principal decided to resign before she was fired due to incompetence. It is reported that the office staff and even one of the vice principals is wearing the orange ribbon because they just cannot let Guthrie go--as if they are co-dependent or something. Why is PCSSD letting such division continue after the leader of it has resigned rather than being forced out?

In regards to Principal Ireland--watch out if you are a white staff member or parent. Word on the street is that Principal Ireland always takes the word of minorities over the word of any white person in the district. Principal Ireland is said to think she is God in the form of a principal and has no care for the saftey needs or otherwise of her staff--as
"she is in charge."

From an unhappy grandparent of Maumelle High students who hopes that PCSSD is able to find better administrative leadership than currently exists at the school.
