Re: “Arkansas auditor finds friendlier court for $160 million U.S. savings bond claim

This lawsuit seems steeped in irony and hypocrisy. Republican politicians like Auditor Lea condemn both litigation forum shopping and contingency fee lawyers. Yet, this Republican politician hires out of state class action lawyers on a contingent fee basis, and after Circuit Judge Alice Gray questions the Kessler Topaz and Cooper Kirk firm for not following the rules or providing evidence, the Auditor dismisses the lawsuit and files it in a friendlier court. Isn't that exactly the type of conduct Republicans criticize trial lawyers for? Is it ignored or over looked because the lawyers involved are in John and Courtney Goodson's orbit?

Judge Gray's order isn't very pretty for Auditor Lea and raises some serious questions about whether she is following the law and protecting Arkansas citizens who hold the bonds.

I understand there is some sort of rush to do this, but that doesn't mean the rights of Arkansas voters who own these bonds should be trampled on. Let's protect the citizens of Arkansas first and then make a grab for federal money second.

I wonder how Judge Gray feels about Auditor Lea and her out of state law firms ignoring her order and going to a more favorable or friendlier court?

Why didn't Auditor Lea just ask the attorney general to file this case for her instead of paying outside lawyers?

How much are the outside lawyers getting and can they millions they will make be worth what the attorney general could have done for free? How much could they be worth if they couldnt even get it right the first time?

And if Judge Gray was so concerned about protecting Arkansas citizens who still hold these savings bonds, who is looking out for these people now that Judge Gray is out of the loop?
