Re: “Atheists in Arkansas

There's a lot more to being an atheist than not believing in god. Disbelief in god does not rule out disbelief in the supernatural, and it's important to understand that.

A = Anti
Theist = Religion
Atheist = Anti Religion

An atheist is against religion and superstition in all its forms whether it be established religions like Christianity, or equally stupid fantasy like black cats being unlucky. An atheist embraces not belief, but knowledge, and specifically knowledge proven by logic, reason, and the scientific method.

You cannot object to the stupidity, ignorance, and laziness of Religion, and embrace it in something else without being a hypocrite. A hypocrite is not an atheist, but a stupid, ignorant, and lazy person who only accepts reality as they want to perceive it, and not much different from theists (AKA preferential thinker).

That is why to be a true atheist you have to be against ALL religion and superstition, and only accept science as the one true way of knowing reality. Reality IS NOT preferential, and thinking preferentially will not lead to knowing it. Reality IS what it IS.
Through science we know the previously unknown reality as it always has been.

Religion on the other hand clings to its lifeblood of stupidity, ignorance, and laziness. This is especially true when it comes to issues of morality.

When you have an imaginary friend that is your moral compass you suffer from having no moral guidance but your own however deranged that may be.

People who made stuff up to explain a world over 2000 years ago without the technology to know how things actually work can not be trusted as moral authorities.

This is partly why human society is as messed up as it is despite most people being religious to various degrees.

In fact, with decreasing religiosity over the centuries things have only gotten better because with the advent of science, technology, and research we are gaining true moral insight, and uncovering the lies religion previously taught.

If religion were a cure for all social ills, then why does all the suffering, and death exist? Throughout the ages we have had thousands of religions come and go leaving nothing but suffering and death in their wake.

True morality can only be found with Atheism, because morality (like a house) has to be based upon something real in order to hold up.

There is nothing more real than FACTS because facts are not based on opinion, and remain true regardless whether you like them or not. We discover facts by the scientific method, and with knowing reality we gain true freedom.
