Re: “State Treasurer Milligan found not liable in wrongful termination and defamation lawsuit

I just giggle every time I see the word 'ethics' in close proximity to Milligan and Harris.

Re: “'We are here, and we are here to stay': Scenes from the Women's March for Arkansas (updated)

Pass, many of us were marching because we realize that we should have been marching long ago. We should have been paying attention to what happens when citizens do not hold their leaders accountable, but we will now. Frankly, I never saw Bill Clinton's relationships with consenting women as a reason to oppose him, and I do not see Trump's extramarital affairs as a reason to oppose him. Trashy, but something for them and their wives to deal with. His public comments about his own daughters and his comments about how he treats women are another thing entirely. Strong evidence that he is a pedophile. These marches were not about Trump's trashy character. They were about his stated objectives of turning our democratic socialist society (don't want to hear that word, do you, but that is what we are) into an oligarchy run by the mega-corporations of the world. We marched because we want the rational leaders to pay attention to what the people want and expect. We marched to encourage each other to get busy working for a more just and transparent government.

Re: “Sad! Crowd indicators for the Trump inaugural

If you want to avoid televisions on January 20, come to the Conway First United Methodist Church a little before noon for a potluck lunch hosted by the newly organized Faulkner County Coalition for Social Justice. The name is a mouthful, but the group's goal is to organize and train people to pay attention to and speak out about what our politicians are doing, and to work for social justice in our own communities. The purpose of the lunch is to gather people together to have conversations and get to know each other. The first step in finding social justice is to know what all community stakeholders think and believe they need. We are nonpartisan, and the lunch is nonpolitical. Bring a dish and join the conversation. We will also be collecting items for Syrian schoolchildren, Foodbank donations, and Conway Cradle Care daycare center. You can find more information on the Faulkner County Coalition for Social Justice Facebook page.

Re: “Giving thanks for Barack Obama

I remain quite perplexed that a capitalist nation such as ours cannot grasp the fact that it is in our best economic interest to have adequate, affordable health care for all citizens (and residents). People who have some security in their ability to access decent health care are better workers. Children who have decent health care and nutrition learn better, and have a better chance to grow up to be productive members of their society.

Re: “Huckabee: Offered Trump administration spot, not 'right fit'

Huck really was headed to Starbucks, slowing down as he walked by that elevator, hoping those doors would open and swoosh him up to the Magic office. He knows there is no place for him in the Trump machine. No room for his ego or his sermonizing. Either a cabinet or advisory position, but primarily cabinet? Is that mostly cabinet, but sort of advisory? Maybe, "Sure, Huck, send me an e-mail with your ideas, and we'll file it in a cabinet somewhere."

Re: “Democrats won't pursue challenge of Faulkner clerk with criminal record

No point in wasting time and money on a fight that has already been decided. Judicial ethics is not a known commodity in Faulkner County.
