Re: “Snark and double-snark: The U.S. Senate race

I would challenge all of you to put these Lincoln talking points in perspective. These novelties may seem like a dainty benefit to a community like Lake Village, but is it a good value? Absolutely not. Think in terms of opportunity cost.

That $749k grant Niebaum is giddy about was borrowed from China, and exacerbates our current fiscal situation, in terms of public debt held by the public, value of the dollar, & inflation. We can't keep thinking that anything "nice" is a justified use of taxpayer dollars. We need to start acting like a nation in $12,000,000,000,000 of debt.

The stimulus bill simply didn't improve private capitol flows that creat private-sector jobs. Things like police equipment are good and well, but don't create new, sustainable jobs. A government worker like a cop is great, but if he/she is hired with temporary funds, it doesn't actually solve long-term economic problems.

Lowering marginal tax rates to create an incentive for job creation would actually help the economy. Cutting corporate tax rates so small business owners aren't punished for productivity and have capital to expand payrolls would help the economy, but it doesn't give Democrats any pork spending to stump on or dole out any favors to unions who want them. The Democratic machine is about buying votes, not helping the economy.
