Re: “North Little Rock sets an example for Little Rock on economic development

The NLR Chamber and LR Chamber are two completely different animals. The NLR Chamber champions NLR and its members. I have not seen any direct lobbying by the NLR Chamber to enhance corporate friendly legislation. They did sponsor the tax increase which benefits the city. But they have received less than favorable mention in this media organization. I'm all for the city (and area) getting better and have no problem with city handouts to help sustain these organizations, but instead of blanket calling out all chambers, know that the NLR Chamber actually does good work. Any grants or "handouts" they receive is an investment into the area or some other organization. Thank you for responding in respectful manner. We need more of that in the world today.

Re: “North Little Rock sets an example for Little Rock on economic development

Does it bother you that the City of NLR gives over $100,000 to supplement the Argenta Arts Foundation and the Argenta Downtown Council? If it wasn't for the city, both of those organizations wouldn't be able to fund their payrolls. Whilst nice, the Argenta organizations are heavily subsidized from the city. They get $5,000-10,000 per year to put in tulips. TULIPS. Which are annual plants that must be replanted every year. I'd bet the city isn't getting a return on its investment for Tulips. The ambassador program wouldn't be possible without taxpayer funded money. In fact, Argenta receives extra tax money because it is located within a business improvement district. I've never understood why the Arkansas Times has such a hard on for the NLR Chamber of Commerce. They help promote their members businesses, work with the NLR School District, spearhead the Women's Hall of Fame, promote and work with Pulaski Technical College, Arkansas Scholars, and various other organizations. Yet, they don't want them to receive any city money. Of course the Arkansas Times wouldn't want to call out Argenta? Why? Because you have a business relationship with the ADC and Argenta Arts Foundation. Whole Hog Roast, Beer Festival, Queers and Beers (which is a terrible name for an event), Innovation Hub. While all these events are great and I even like the Arkansas Times (for the food reviews and event calendar), the Arkansas Times continues to be hypocritical. If you are going to rail against one non-profit, why not rail against all that receive city funding to balance the budget. How much longer do you think the innovation hub will last without city funding?

Re: “RiverFest slideshow and a debrief from Director Jack Daniels

Kill it. We don't need a festival in Little Rock, but the Amphitheater should get more use. If it doesn't get more use than it does now, tear it down and expand the park.

Dishonest people exist regardless of political party, race, gender, sex, economic background, geographic background, etc.

Re: “Liveblog: Democratic candidates for Second District Congressional seat face off in debate

"7th generation Arkansan" Does that mean your family wasn't bright enough to move out of this backwards thinking inferno. In all seriousness, Tucker will probably win, but he is: a) an attorney b) Heights/Hillcrest elite c) more of the same. Might as well vote for French Hill.

Re: “The legislature slouches home having done .... what?

I'm all for allowing ATVs to be allowed on whatever road they choose. This action will result in an increase in the annual Darwin awards. The movie of Idiocracy is really happening. Yay!
