Re: “Russellville proposal would limit guns in parks

That's odd... many states allow carry, but I can't remember a single time that two gay men were shot because their kissing made someone feel threatened. I mean, surely among all those gun toting crazies it must happen daily, right? Especially since gun ownership is up and there's a steady increase in the amount of people being "out" in public. Those two rising trends would be in constant collision, right?

No? That doesn't happen? How odd! It's almost as if things don't really happen as you predict that they will.
Let's ponder that a bit, shall we?

Re: “Russellville proposal would limit guns in parks

Here's my personal rule: imagine all the public places that two married black men should be able to kiss while reading a Koran, yelling "George Bush sucks!", and handing out copies of The Daily Worker all at the same time.
Namely, everywhere. Anywhere.
Those are the same places any law-abiding, unrestricted person should be allowed to carry a weapon for self defense, because the right to do those things is inherent to us all as free citizens.
An attempt to restrict ANY of those activities listed above should be opposed with all available effort, and the right to carry a weapon for one's defense is no different.
Rights are still rights, even when you don't personally care for the way they may be exercised.
Russellville should know better than to attempt this. It will end poorly for them, as it should. If they proceed with this, they deserve the beat-down they are about to receive from the court, and I will watch and laugh as it happens.
Freedom will prevail, and all of you who want to restrict it will lose. You should probably get used to that feeling. This won't be the last time you experience it.

Re: “Gun permit holders commit crimes, review finds

So, exactly which strawman are you trying to knock down here?

Nobody credible has said that concealed weapons license holders are perfect, or that they never commit crimes. There are bad apples among CCW holders just as there are bad cops, teachers, doctors, priests, and newspaper reporters.

The only real point I've ever heard made by the CCW people is that, compared to any other random sample of the population, their probability for being a criminal is much less, as evidenced by their ability to pass an ASP (and possibly federal, I don't know) background check. Sure, some of them do bad things after passing the check... just like anyone else.

Also, I find it odd that you guys continue to beat the dead horse of CCW holders being irresponsible, troublesome people. By and large, they're not. Their numbers are one the rise and gun sales are setting record highs, yet according to the FBI statistics, violent crime is down overall. How does that work? It's almost as if the old saw about more guns=more crime is baseless. Wow! Imagine that!

By the way, the FBI stats are available here, for those who like, you know, numbers and other sciency stuff like that.

Re: “Abduction in Horatio store

Your reading comprehension is low. That's not unexpected, but I still hoped for better. I'll be sure and revise my expectations lower for next time.

My only fetish is for innocent people to be able to defend themselves so that this never happens again. If that makes you hate me, I'll gladly take it and sleep very well tonight.

I thought you libs were all for civil rights.... it seems you only like the ones that can't prevent abductions and murders. Either you support the right of people to defend themselves, or you support the continuation of this sort of violence against innocent victims.

It's your choice, but I think you should at least own it.

Re: “Abduction in Horatio store

Hey, congratulations to you anti-gunners! This is a shining example of your vision for an unarmed, defenseless public. I mean, nobody but the police should have guns, right? All anyone has to do is call 911 and cops come running, right? We should outsource our responsibility for our own safety to authorized agents of the State, right?

No. This is an example of what happens when you anti-rights bigots are allowed to impose your will on the rest of us. Defenseless people left to scratch and claw their attackers because the law has disarmed them.

But, hey, it's a good thing she didn't have a gun or somebody could have gotten hurt.

Pathetic.

Re: “AntiSec posts police info

Good luck to you if your IP gets logged while downloading that torrent... I would imagine the Feds are quite interested in who gets this info, as they're probably much easier to go after than whoever posted it. Not all of them will get attention, but I suspect a few examples will be made.

I'd imagine they're pissed enough to ruin your life just for spite, prosecution be damned...

Re: “The face of terrorism: A blond Norwegian Christian

I get the point you're trying to make with the title, Max (or at least the point I think you're trying to make), but I would humbly suggest the following revision:

A face of terrorism: A blond Norwegian Christian

As you can clearly see, violent political extremism doesn't depend on religion or color. There's plenty of crazy to go around...
