Re: “Death in Marianna

Marianna has good people but bad leaders and it's sad that these good people tend to turn their head on some issues and not stand up for what is right. There are many things that have been accomplished in Marianna for citizens to be proud of, but this is something to be very ashamed of. I am proud of Hall for taking a stand and saying what she saw. There are dogs all over Marianna and I'm sure if there was a dead dog it was not the only dog in Marianna that day, especially roaming around two very close food establishments searching for food. Animal control is an issue, but if our local paid employees can't follow protocol when it comes to animal control what does that say about other issues in the city. There have been rumors of dog killings for years including shootings and dog catchers selling dogs for fighting on the street. Many of these allegations come from regular everyday people who are not sure of what to do once they see it. It makes me sick to my stomach that any human being would treat something this way. Not somebody I want to be paying with my tax dollars! I honestly think people don't do anything because that one person can't get anything done in Marianna. It's the power of numbers and the backbone of strong-minded citizens that will help a city come away from this type of behavior. This endeavor was started by a 17-year-old student who just couldn't stand by and see injustice. What excuse do other witnesses have for not coming forward? They may believe it may not make a difference but at least they could say they tried and did what was right by reporting it.
