Re: “Charter schools got cold feet about taking over urban schools

Lovely and scathing piece on what is looking more like a scam industry with each new development. You'd swear that some people are making a pretty good living off of being paid to quit jobs that they couldn't do to begin with. There seem to be other people who are doing well by recommending and placing these goobs--who may be lying on their resumes--and their replacements, presumably.

Bad as LRSD is FUBAR already, the concept of a legitimately-elected school board dodged a MAJOR bullet with the failure of whatever bill that was. The one to hand over schools to a contractor and, of course, bust up that evil Union of Socialist Atheist Elitists who are getting expensive to maintain.

This tried its BEST to happen, quickly through deft changes in state law made in dark places. The horror of it is coming to me in slow motion. Such a bill could become law next time. And as long as somebody smells a dollar, you know there'll be a next time.

Public schools are going to literally have to feed their communities, too, but that's another crisis for another day.

Re: “Suggs denies plagiarism; critics stick by their accounts

Does anyone else detect about a hundredweight of irony in the phrase "a rush to judgement" after the way the LR School Board got shown the door?

Is a compliant factotum so important to Key? You bet what's left of your ass it is! It's the Goat Theory of Management: the first thing you do is have somebody to blame it on when it all blows up.

Re: “More disputation in the Little Rock School District

I am reminded of the sage advice given by Attorney General John Mitchell, who was also blessed to serve as head of the Committee To Re-Elect the President (CREEP) in the age of Nixxon:

"Let them listen to what we say, but watch what we do."

Re: “Arkansas passes an 11 Commandments bill

Howza bout we boil it all down to One Commandment:

"As long as it harms nobody, do what you will."

That's Limited Government right there, I don't care who you are. Such a monument ought to cost roughly one-eleventh as much as that other one, a clear display of Fiscal Responsibility. Republicans LOVE that, right? And consider the ABSOLUTE Freedom of Religion contained in just one sentence--EVERYBODY could get behind that!

It would be a moment of spellbinding brilliance, whereupon we might begin to crawl out of the Dork Ages.

Re: “The 'de-evolution' of Arkansas

The only thing worse than watching our descent from afar has been watching it from HERE. I was horrified, too--but not surprised. As soon as that Uppity N-word had the nerve to get himself elected President, Arkansas got on the express elevator to 1910.

Obama has been coming for our guns just any minute now for the past six years. Fundy preachers holler about eeeevil Muslins who are fixing to put veils on our wimmin and them homasexyuls who want to turn our houses of worship into temples of witchcraft.

Meanwhile, Rut Limpballs and Fox Noose crank out the slop of hate and the faithful gorge themselves--to the point where Walmart can't keep enough scooters to haul all the lard.

We's ignernt and we's PROUD! Welcome to Darkansas.

Re: “Compromise 'religion' bill becomes law; session ends

I'm having a little trouble believing that it's even POSSIBLE to infringe on someone's religious liberties down here in this Bible Belt. Perhaps someone could document a few instances of it--half a dozen should do nicely--and the Arkansas Times could post them for all to see.

Meanwhile, our gleeful ignorance is on display from Beebe to the BBC. On the plus side, cathouse piano players are relieved that the heat is off of them for a while.

Darkansas--it's what's for lunch.
