Re: “County officials blindsided by Lake Maumelle watershed amendment

Kate Altoff is an uninformed reactionist who only considers the "green" side as the truth. She owns no property in the watershed and should try to understand the concerns of landowners. The proposed ordinance would steal our land while still requiring us to pay taxes on the stolen land while warning of hidden pollutions occurring now. The pristine water of Lake Maumelle is NO danger of pollution in the immediate or distant future. CAW's own research has proved that to be true. The main danger for any distant future pollution lies in the boats spewing oil and gas into the water and the runoff from dirt roads. Those are problems that can be easily solved without stealing our land without just compensation.
Justice Denton is a concerned citizen who, unlike many others, is willing to look at both sides before making an important decision. He is man enough to stand up to the tyranny of Buddy Villines who is not used to new Justices using their own brains instead of cowtowing to his demands. Thank you again, Mr. Denton.
I have spoken to the vast majority of LANDOWNERS in the watershed and have yet to find ONE LANDOWNER in favor of the ordinance. So, yes Ms. Altof, I have already joined the other community LANDOWNERS in our struggle to protect our property and constitutional rights. The landowners in and around the watershed are and will continue to be good stewards of the land.

Re: “County officials blindsided by Lake Maumelle watershed amendment

Thank you Mr. Denton. I am a landowner who has lived on the North Shore of Lake Maumelle for 20 years. I have NEVER been contacted by anyone in the County about this draconian ordinance which was going to TAKE my land away with NO compensation - and I would be required to continue paying taxes on the land I couldn't use. The new amendment by Mr. Denton will allow the landowners to have input into measures effecting their lives and the lives of their children and grandchildren. People like Kate Altoff who want to tell others how to live their lives have NOTHING to lose because they have no property being effected. The water in Lake Maumelle is pristine. CAW's OWN study reported the quality of the water would not be effected even if thousands of houses are built. The quality of the water will not change in 4 years and will give the landowners a chance to have input into ordinances that will effect the rest of their lives. Thank you Mr. Denton for standing up for the property owners and giving us a chance to have input into this ordinance.
