Re: “Safe Places for abuse victims closes abruptly

No one ever said that the services of Safe Places were not needed or that clients did not get help but unfortunately, clients usually are not the ones giving back to this organization through donations or other funding. You can stand on top of a mountain and yell how awesome Safe Places has been in helping victims. I will stand beside you and share how the services are needed but it has not been Kathy Findley who has done that. It has been most of her past staff that made that happen. Mrs Findley has used people's monies year after year and that must stop. It only benefits her. Not the clients or the staff who get hurt and abused by this abusive cycle.

Re: “Safe Places for abuse victims closes abruptly

SimplyAmazing is correct, which comes from professional experience with this non-profit organization. The employees have done incredible work with the limited resources, training, and support they have received from their administration. Findley always comes out looking like the "victim" when her organization is in trouble but those that are affected the most are the clients and employees.
Springdale_liberal, the story you should follow is the one that Channel 7 reported on stating "Safe Places says it has run out of funds with no grants coming in."
It is public knowledge that Safe Places received State VOCA and VAWA Funding. Those are not up for renewal until the end of October. Why have they lost their funding? Additional public knowledge and "news source" is that Safe Places, a project of The Center for Healing and Hope, was behind in paying their State and Federal Payroll Taxes. (Over $100,00 behind is what Findley was telling everyone.) One might consider how their monies are being handled before turning them over to this organization. Great work, a needed resource in this community but poor management. Findley needs to let it go.
