Re: “Second group seeks constitutional amendment for casinos

Who is behind these ballot-initiatives? Who would own the casinos? Why would you build 3 casinos in rural Arkansas counties? I would be inclined to vote for casinos if certain criteria were met.
Such as, The casinos need to be in larger population areas like Little Rock,Northwest Arkansas and the like. And there should be some kind of open market to eliminate a monopoly. And the casinos that are built need to have more amenities than just a casino. A bowling alley, movie theater, concert venue, restaurants ETC.I also think the approved casinos should have to have an attached hotel. Something more than just a slot house in a metal building.

Re: “Group seeks constitutional amendment for casinos and highway funding

Even if this Amendment were to somehow get passed. The plan is doomed from the get go.The model of putting casinos in remote counties close to state borders is doomed to fail. It might have been successful 20 years ago. But not today. The casino industry has leveled off in the past few years. Younger people aren't gambling as much. They are looking for more entertainment when they visit Las Vegas and the like. Arkansas's best chance for building more casinos . Is to build them in more populated cities. And to make them have more amenities than just a casino. Put one in downtown Little Rock. require it to have an attached hotel ,Restaurants, and other entertainment venues. Building a slot house out in the middle of a bean field in BFE is just plain dumb.

Re: “Juanita's is moving to the River Market

Juanita's moving to river market is great news. They really need to block of the street on the weekends and allow alcohol sales on the street. Then people could bar hop and visit some of the shops too.
