Bernice Sculpture Garden | Downtown | Galleries & Museums, Public Place, Public & Special Places | Arts
This privately-owned but publicly-used sculpture garden places work bought with the assistance of public grants in a verdant spot planted with tall daisies and other native plants. Its wonderful shelter of fanned out wooden beams give cover for the summer farmer's market here and other special events, like the Cornbread Festival. The sculpture changes yearly; all of the work is by Arkansas artists. This is an oasis in an urban setting, where you will find sculpture that ranges from the figurative (Stephanie Shinaberry) to an installation of what appear to be pillows (Mia Hall) to carved stone (Kerry Hartman).
