Re: “Crowds increase at RiverFest day 2

Scott McClenahan, I'm not pissing and moaning about it. I went Saturday and Sunday. I had a great time. Margo Price/Jamey Johnson was a fabulous double bill. There just weren't many people there, and that spells financial doom. I am not happy about it. But that's the way it is.

Re: “Crowds increase at RiverFest day 2

As a guy who worked on Riverfest for 20 years and has been at every festival, let me tell you that the crowds last night, while perhaps bigger than Friday's, were absolutely pitiful compared to the peak of the festival, and even smaller than last year, when Riverfest lost so much money it had to go under. There is zero chance the new promoter is making a profit. Sad but unarguably true.

Re: “The new RiverFest, a review from our photographer

The crowds were small and the concession lines were non-existent, which means the for-profit Memphis company that resurrected RiverFest definitely didn't make a profit on Day One. The weather is going to be perfect today and Sunday for a festival. If the new guys can't make it work this year, it will never work. And they won't be back, throwing good money after bad.

Re: “Trio's: tried, true, tasty

Trio's never coasts, never rests on its considerable laurels. It is, has been and likely for years to come ranks as one of the top 5 restaurants in town.

Re: “Little Rock to settle for half a pig at War Memorial Stadium — a Hog game every other year

I, on the other hand, am glad to get to see my beloved Hogs once every other year on Thanksgiving weekend in my hometown of Little Rock. Thanks, Hunter/Chad/Kane.
