Re: “Mike Anderson hired as new basketball coach at St. John's

I will be rooting for St. John's to excel. Mike Anderson is a class act and a good coach. I understand why Arkansas let him go, and I think Eric Musselman was an inspired choice to replace him. But it's nice to see Mike get another chance so quickly, and in a major basketball conference, the Big East. Go Red Storm!

Re: “Cajun's Wharf to close after 44 years

I'm guessing Christopher hasn't been to Cajun's in years. It had its low moments, particularly during the Landry's years, but Mary Beth and her crew -- who, all pretty much agree, puts out really good fare at Caper's and Copper Grill -- had elevated the quality of the food in the last few years at Cajun's. You know how to cook and what to cook in two places you don't forget in the third. And by no means is Cajun's just a fried seafood platter kind of place. Sad to see it go but understand that running a place that huge and keeping it in decent repair is a ton of work.

Re: “Bottle deposit bill introduced

It makes entirely too much sense for entirely too many reasons to stand a chance to even get out of committee.

Re: “Former Beebe spokesman Matt DeCample dies at 44

Liked, admired and was really impressed with Matt. I knew him for about the last 15 years of his life -- from his help on a charity fundraiser I was chairing to his work for the governor, which whom I had the occasion to need help from, to Brett Eiler and Matt providing improv training for the staff at the place I work. And tomorrow I will be at the Downtown Little Rock Partnership annual meeting. The format at least the last three years has been Brett and Matt providing a "newcast" about the year's doings in downtown LR that includes videos shot around the area. Matt will be featured in the videos. Sadly, so sadly, he won't be there for the newcast. Tough duty for Brett to handle at this time.

Re: “The roll call to preserve a Confederate tribute in Arkansas flag. It's about slavery, said a lone Republican dissenter

Actually, Daniel Greensmith, there are 49 other states to choose from, unless you know about a 51st state the rest of us don't.

Re: “Downtown's got a hole in it — Hurts Donut Co. opens Wednesday

Those are good points. If you have to have people there making donuts it makes sense for them to stop long enough to sell some. I just hope the overall volume of business makes it a viable operation.

Re: “Downtown's got a hole in it — Hurts Donut Co. opens Wednesday

I appreciate the commitment to being open 24 hours a day, but how many times will the owners tolerate paying an employee or two to camp out with no customers between 2 and 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings?
