Re: “Report: Arkansas nonprofits face declining contributions

Wow, as a guy who had a successful career in the for-profit world and has spent the last six years as CEO of a non-profit, I'd say you mean, misguided people absolutely don't know what you're talking about. We do great work and are very well regarded in Central Arkansas and beyond. And we're helping make a difference for lots of people. We have a dedicated board of directors who support our efforts. And none of them, GFTR, are involved to get a plaque to hang on the wall. Shame on all of you.

Re: “A racial difference in Little Rock voting for mayor, 2nd District Congress

John Brummett wrote yesterday that Mayor Stodola and his supporters -- the old guard of LR leadership -- weren't happy that Warwick Sabin would get into the race against Stodola. After the mayor announced he would not seek re-election, that group lobbied Baker Kurrus to run. Had the race only been Sabin and Scott as serious candidates, what do you think the outcome would have been from a percentage point of view? And do you think it's logical to assume more Sabin votes will go to Kurrus than to Scott?

Re: “Ira's Restaurant to become Allsopp & Chapple

Boy, it didn't take Ira long to wear out his welcome with his investors.

Re: “Supreme Court upholds removal of Issue One from the ballot; clears minimum wage proposal

I am a member of Downtown Rotary Club 99, and the program Tuesday was a panel discussion about Issue 1, with two speaking for it and two speaking against it. To say the aginners wiped the floor with the supporters would be putting it mildly. And one of them even used the first sentence of the famed Rotary 4-Way Test against the proponents: "Is it the truth?" That referred to the premise that lack of tort reform is the only thing keeping physicians from streaming into small-town Arkansas to start their practices.

Re: “Capitol Zoning Commission to take up Airbnb rules

Dowhat, I don't believe those expectations are placed on Airbnb or VRBO hosts anywhere. Given Arkansas being a regulations-are-bad state, I'm sure we won't be the first one to impose those restrictions.

Re: “Capitol Zoning Commission to take up Airbnb rules

I'm sorry for the B&B owners, just like I'm sorry for the taxi companies. And the retailers who lose business to eBay. And what about StubHub for tickets? The phenomenon of using a web platform to get in between buyers and sellers is here to stay. It will have economic consequences, but that's just the changing nature of the economy. Traditional delivery methods for products/services will continue to lose market share to internet-enabled ones. Right, Walter Hussman?

Re: “Rainy tailgating leaves damage on War Memorial Golf Course

I would imagine that at $100 for each reserved spot sold and $20 for each unreserved spot, War Memorial generates more revenue on the single Hog game day than in greens fees the rest of the year combined.
