Re: “Legendary Jimmie Vaughan brings the blues to UA-Pulaski Tech Oct. 12

Jimmie Vaughan was a member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, a medium-level blues-rock band with one big hit, and his brother Stevie Ray was a really big deal. But to call Jimmie "legendary" is definitely stretching it.

Re: “Tastes right

BeoWulfie, how many dead-for-days flies did you see at Brave New?

Re: “Tastes right

BeoWulfie, I would bet you any amount of money that Brave New doesn't serve "warmed frozen vegetables out of a bag."

Re: “Tastes right

We adore Brave New. The fresh fish special is always a winner. Monday lunch was mahi mahi with a red currant beurre blanc, julienned carrots and those "how do they get them so creamy inside" new potatoes.

Re: “State Rep. Clarke Tucker rules out run for Little Rock mayor in 2018

Warrick and Frank are both really good guys. I wish they could be co-mayors. And I like Stodola, too.

Re: “Hogs don't bring out the crowds to War Memorial

Once upon a not-that-long-ago time, there were 41,000 seats at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville and the same 55,000 at War Memorial there are today. So from a dollars-and-cents perspective playing in Little Rock made more financial sense than it does today, when there are 74,000 seats at the campus stadium. As for attendance dropping, a lot of that is the fact that every game is on TV. My drives to Fayetteville games have gotten fewer because I have a nice TV and can watch all games from the comfort of my recliner. When I was a kid, you were lucky to have 3-4 games a year on TV. We camped out around the radio for away games and generally attended as many home games as we could.

Re: “A throwback

And that's fine, HillcrestArky. When I do a review I feel compelled to try a broad selection of items from the menu. I repeat -- if you can't do a grilled cheese better than two slices of pasteurized, processed, cheese-like product on oversized Texas toast, take it off the menu. And if you advertise 9 items with chili, have chili on hand. And get rid of the dead flies. And either find some decent side items or make them yourself. This is basic blocking-and-tackling stuff that shouldn't even be an issue. It's like they are on cruise control. And, yes, I'd been there before. This was my third or fourth time over the years. I used to work at UALR, so it was an easy trip from there. I don't remember it being as horrid as this last trip.
