Re: “Crawford gets a Democratic challenger in the 1st Congressional District

From a pragmatic point of view, I doubt this poor guy has a snowball's chance (he ain't from 'round heah, y'know), but I'm surely glad to see him give it a whirl and I'll send a donation his way.

Anybody got a count on the number of Dem challengers announced so far for GOP seats in the state ledge?

Re: “The ghost of Kenneth Starr: A special prosecutor for Clinton Foundation, uranium and, yes, e-mails!

Jesus H. Christ on a rollerskate. Anyone who can't recognize a lame fade-the-heat attempt for what it is needs to eat a breakfast of red herrings.

Re: “Oklahoma: Can Arkansas match it?

Brummett's column today speaks more toward the potential for hope for Democrats in Arkansas than anything I've read in, oh, decades.

Re: “Another fresh face announces for Arkansas House

I'm encouraged to see all the Democratic candidates coming out, many of them in areas where they could conceivably win, particularly if Trump-sick Republicans stay home. I just hope the state Democratic party will get its collective head out of its collective rear end long enough to put together a comprehensive, cohesive and practical program of support for them, not to mention a platform that has a snowball's chance of luring some moderate voters as well as turning out the progressives.

It behooves each of us to make up our minds Right Now we'll accept a few things we may not like in candidates who, on the whole, are more palatable than the guys/gals on the other side. We do not need Bernie Sanders/Jill Stein loyalists who'll see the other guy elected just to make a point. The point's made. Let's focus on changing it.

Re: “Roy Moore accused of sexual encounter with 14-year-old

I have lost the capacity to be amazed, fascinated or otherwise impressed by anything that comes out of the state of Alabama. Beyond, of course, the grouper with crawfish etouffee at the Shrimp Basket in Gulf Shores.

I reserve the right to change my mind if the Democrat actually wins.

Re: “Might the Weinstein case lead to a safer world for women?

I'm 62 years old. I've always worked in male-dominated fields. I've experienced physical and lewd verbal harassment, but I've also experienced the discrimination of not being taken seriously and having my input disregarded or less regarded because of my sex. I can deal with the first; I have broken a bone in a man's foot stomping on it and a bone in my hand slugging another one in retaliation for unwanted physical overtures, and anyone who made a lewd suggestion quickly learned I could scorch his ears and shame him better than most sailors. The latter is much more pernicious and much harder to fight.

Re: “The Monday Democrat-Gazette was slimmer this morning

FWIW, the Demozette is a lot closer to a real newspaper than a lot of others that have been gutted by chains over the years. It would make you weep to look at The Commercial Appeal any more. I finally dropped it after almost 40 years. Can't see paying more than 2x what I pay for the New York Times. If you read the Demozette with an awareness of its built-in bias, you still can get a sense of the news. And we have Max to give us the rest of it.
