Re: “School choice bill draws criticism from superintendents, governor

I wrote a report refuting this bill. If you are against this bill please go to my Facebook page (Brad Martin) and share the report. I pull data directly from a University of Arkansas report that has been touted as evidence the bill will help the state and schools. I examined the paper and wrote about the pitfalls of the bill and conjecture problems with the paper. Topics include:

1) No state has attempted this bill. If you hear other states have does this and it worked that is a false statement.

2) Tax payer money is going indirectly to privates schools.

3) A lottery to determine who receives this ESA?? This educational life changing bill will be awarded based on a random lottery? With 500,000 students we are going to randomly pick 1,500 to support through chance?

4) No assurances that minorities and low SES participation will remain as the years go on.

5) The claim that the state will save money with this bill is filled with conjecture math. In fact, there is a very real chance the state will lose revenue.

6) Public schools are very likely to experience negative outcomes. They will lose funding without an equal reduction in expenditures.

7) Why? With all the evidence showing the dangers of this bill, why do it? (I dont have the answer because I believe this bill should be stopped).
