Re: “Marshall Islanders make home in Northwest Arkansas

This is an interesting article and very good comments. However, what you failed to realize is that Ms. Laelan and over 11 percent of the Marshallese population per capita voluntarily serve or served in the United States military, all branches. That percentage is 11% more than Americans serving or served in the military. As many of you pointed out, they have to adapt to the American culture, that is true. However, the Marshallese immigration status can not be compared to those of other countries. If any of you here can tell me one country in the world that gave up so much for the safety and defense efforts of the United States through 67 atomic bombs tested on their soil, than I will tell my Marshallese friends to suck it up and drive on. This small population, 20,000 or more, in the United States are mistreated, misrepresented and blamed for the whole immigration failures. At the least, America should welcome them and say, thank you and here is your American citizenship for allowing us to bomb your country for the "better of mankind."
