Re: “Saturday To-Do: Reason in the Rock

I like how the name of the organization and the conference directly imply that a reasonable, freethinking person can't choose a different set of beliefs.

Re: “Lilly's Dim Sum, Then Some offers some dim sum and a lot of "then some"

My favorite dim sum in Chicago's Chinatown doesn't use carts, and lots of others don't either. They use a menu similar in style to the sushi menu you find at Japanese restaurants, or they operate as take-out joints and don't include table service at all. The carts are fun, but I'm certain that they're not an essential element of dim sum.

Re: “Herb Rule arrested in Fayetteville for DWI; says he's innocent

It's interesting that he says his refusal to submit to the tests is permitted by law. Take a look at ACA 5-65-205.

Re: “Arkansas psych nugget featured on Thornton's latest flick

The past few weeks, Shoog Radio on KABF has been playing Lost Souls. Those who are interested should download the free podcast and check it out. Some great old gems in there. Shoog is also just a great radio show with an emphasis on music with an Arkansas connection.

Re: “New ownership at Pizza D'Action

It's "a lot of drama" over the poor treatment of really good people. The D is my bar, and I used to spend a good deal of money there sometimes four or five nights a week. That said, I'm proud to be a part of the boycott until I get some reliable information about this dubious maneuver.

Re: “Veggie breakfast at the Root: the good, bad and ugly

The ethics of what we eat -- whether that's the geographic origin of the food, the suffering caused to produce it, the effect it has on our bodies, or the political persuasion of the business selling it -- must be integral to the way we eat just as thoroughly as the taste and texture and presentation of the food itself. I love Corrie and Jack, and I love the Root. I think the writer was a little quick to judge what, as someone suggested, could have been a diplomatic business owner placating a patron with innocuousness generalities. That said, I'm thrilled to see a new voice on this blog. I'm delighted, even as an omnivore, that vegan choices are being highlighted after the deluge of burgers that we've endured here.

While this was, as the author said, intended to be a brief comment rather than a full review, I'd love to see both of these topics (the food and the politics) fleshed out. Cheree, best of luck to you and I look forward to seeing more of you around here.

Re: “The most complete Arkansas State Fair food preview you can find

Last year there were seven posts about fair food. I think we're up to four this year. Let's see if she can outdo herself.
