Re: “Petition drive started to convince Beebe to pardon the WM3

This is just a other attempt by Mara Leveritt to exploit this tragedy for her own personal gain by selling another book. I'm a former supporter of the WM3, but I now believe they are guilty as charged

Re: “Petition drive started to convince Beebe to pardon the WM3

This isn't a Democrat vs Republican issue. Im a lifelong liberal democrat and The WM3 have not shown any reason why they should be pardoned. The HBO movies do not tell the whole story and in fact, deliberately leave out crucial facts in their rabid support of these guys.
I have faith that Governor Bebe will do the right thing and not give in to this bullshit.
The queen of the WM3 fan club Mara Leveritt claims "everyone knows they are innocent. But the comments here prove that to be false.

Re: “Only the guilty want closure in West Memphis Three case

It is too late Shari. The WM3 were given the opportunity to present evidence that proved their innocence, but chose to offer a plea deal instead. Thereby closing the case that had been reopened by the state Supreme Court.
Like most supporters, my initial opinion was shaped and molded by what I saw in the PL documentaries. However, I eventually found out what had been left out of the movies and I began to see things in a different light.
I don't know for absolute certainty that Damien and his friends are guilty. But what I DO know is that the case for innocence is not as cut and dried as I was led to believe. And all the articles by Mara Leveritt fawning over the WM3 like pets is not going to change my mind.

Re: “Only the guilty want closure in West Memphis Three case

Actually Christian, the only thing that makes you a killer is if you kill someone. Fair trial and evidence are irrelevant. There are many murderers who never went to trial at all. But that doesn't mean they didn't commit the crime. "Not guilty" because of a legal technicality and "innocent" are two entirely different scenarios.
The state of Arkansas didn't "propose to celebrate the Alford plea" The defense was granted a hearing in which they could present new evidence that might grant them a new trial.
In this hearing, the burden of proof rested squarely with the defense, so Dennis Riordan wanted to skip that hearing and go straight to trial. The state rejected his request, so he (the defense) offered the Alford plea instead.

Anyone who pays attention to the justice system knows how hard it is to obtain a conviction in a high profile case these days. Especially when the defense has unlimited funding and a fair amount public sympathy.
It would have been almost impossible to find an impartial jury in a new WM3 trial. And with 20 years having passed, the prosecutor knew building a winning case would have been an uphill battle to say the least. But not believing he couldn't get a conviction is not the same as believing they were innocent.
IF he had taken the case to trial and lost, he knew the state would have been mired in lawsuits for years to come. So he accepted the plea to finally close this case once and for all.
The continuing cries to reopen the case and exonerate the WM3 are nothing but continuing PR stunts from WM3.borg. The case WAS reopened and the convicted chose to make a plea instead.
As far as Damien's continuous lies. He's lying because he's lied for so long, he needs to keep it up if he wants to keep selling Magick rocks to his rubes in NYC. I myself am a former supporter but once I found out how slanted the Paradise Lost movies were and what was left out, I started questioning my beliefs. Watching Damien tell bold faced lies in his national interviews was the last straw for me. These days, I believe he's guilty as sin and thanks to rich, naive supporters in Hollywood, he beat the system and is now he and his sycophantic jailhouse bride are making a nice living off the murders of 3 children. Only in America.

Actually PeteB, I did indeed watch the documentaries. And I believed them for the longest time. However, they tend to play fast and loose with the truth on many points.
In fact, they are not documentaries at all. They are nothing but advocacy films.
As to Jessie's IQ, you're simply repeating talking points.

Re: “Only the guilty want closure in West Memphis Three case

I was once a supporter and believed everything I saw in Paradise Lost. However, once I found that very important facts were deliberately omitted, I began to question my position. Anyone interested can go to and find ALL of the case and investigation documents. In those documents, you will find that Jessie confessed several times, and in spite of what's implied in the movies, there was no 12 hour interrogation leading to his initial confession.
Educate yourselves beyond Paradise lost, and Johnny Depps opinion. Ill also not hold my breath waiting form Damien to explain why he continues to lie about the facts surrounding the case. He only answers pre-screened questions and his fan club laps it up.

Re: “Only the guilty want closure in West Memphis Three case

All case files are available on including the MULTIPLE confessions by Jessie Miskelley. Confessions, which by the way, were completely ignored in all 4 of the documentaries as well as the absolutely awful Devil's knot.
Answer me this question Damien. Why do you continue to lie about your place of residence when the crimes occurred. You did NOT live in Marion as you claimed on Larry King, Piers Morgan, etc. You were, in fact, living in the Broadway Trailer Partk, less than a mile from the crime scene.
When you start telling the truth, I'll consider rejoining the supporter movement. Until then, I believe you're guilty.
